‘Thalatta’ is a
wooden, single storey cottage overlooking the larger of Aberporth’s
two beaches. The accommodation consists of two bedrooms (one double
bed, two single beds), a living room with wood burning stove,
conservatory, bathroom with an electric shower over the bath and a
kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with ceramic hob, fan oven,
fridge-freezer, microwave and filter coffee machine. There is a
small, secluded terrace to the rear of the property and sufficient
parking space for two cars.
Aberporth is a
small seaside village with a pub, small supermarket, chemist and
Chinese takeaway that also does good fish and chips. There is a
well stocked village store, with its own post office counter, in
Parclyn (right turn off the B4333, a quarter of a mile above the
church). The beaches are the main attraction, but there are also
some pleasant walks in the area – the closest being from the cottage
along the cliff path to Tresaith, another seaside village, a mile or
so north of Aberporth.
The cottage is very
much DIY. We provide duvets and pillows, but not bed linen or
towels. (Bed linen and towels can be provided, at a supplementary
cost, for overseas visitors). There is no cleaner, so visitors are
asked to leave the cottage as they would hope to find it. This keeps
the cost down for everyone.
There is a radio/CD/cassette, but no TV. There are plenty of books
(adults and children’s) as well as a wide selection of board games
and jigsaw puzzles.
Please note that we have a no smoking, no pets policy.
The minimum length
of stay is two nights, although we give preference to longer
bookings, particularly in school holidays.
The rate for the
cottage is £50 per night during high season, £40 for the rest of the
year. The price includes utilities and unlimited firewood during
winter months (within reason!). We do not require a deposit, but
expect full payment six weeks before you are due to arrive. If, for
any reason, you have to cancel during the six week period, we refund
50% of your payment.
